The Queens of the West
The Queens of the West is a group of musicians based in Melbourne's West, and play mostly acoustic music that's a fusion of styles and traditions from blues and swing to pop, laced with improvisation and off-the-cuff humour.
Featuring 4 lush harmonising singers, guitar/dulcimer, double bass, drums and sax, with occasional ukulele/banjoleles, we can turn our repertoire to jazz standards, reinterpretations of classics (eg. a hot funk version of Norwegian Wood!), sultry blues, torch songs, comedic jazz, a few polished originals and more.

House Party 10/12/2022
We had a fantastic time playing at the house party on Sunday. We sold all the tickets and the sun came out for the first time in a while, it was one of those gorgeous days that Melbourne surprises you with. The three Queens sang and harmonised beatifully and their courtiers kept up the rhythm and pace, Clive and Martin kept us up there with their rhythms and pulse, Nick's emerald green guitar drove us through the afternoon, especially Norwegian Wood, with his trance-like licks, and Laurie blew some riffs and lines on baritone or tenor as the mood took him.
Thanks again to our wonderful hosts and audience.
